Hands-on Practical Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

The Department of BCA, Sri Jagadguru Chandrashekhara Bharathi Memorial (Sri JCBM) College, Sringeri, successfully organized a Hands-on Practical Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning on 13 July 2026 in the BCA Computer Laboratory. The programme was conducted under the quality initiatives of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) with the objective of equipping students with practical knowledge of emerging technologies and preparing them for industry requirements.

The workshop was exclusively designed for BCA students and focused on experiential learning through practical laboratory sessions, live demonstrations, interactive discussions, and real-time case studies. The programme aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and current technological advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of the faculty members of the Department of BCA. During the inaugural session, the importance of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in today's digital era was highlighted, emphasizing the growing demand for AI professionals across industries.

The first technical session was conducted by Mr. Surya N, Software Developer, Coding Mart Technologies, who introduced students to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He explained the evolution of AI, basic concepts of Machine Learning, different types of learning algorithms, and the latest trends in AI technologies. He also discussed how AI is transforming sectors such as healthcare, banking, agriculture, education, cybersecurity, and e-commerce. Through practical demonstrations, students gained a clear understanding of AI concepts and their applications.

The second session was led by Mr. Thamizharashan P, AI & Machine Learning Engineer, Cognizant, who conducted an intensive hands-on practical training session. Students actively participated in laboratory exercises involving data preprocessing, machine learning workflows, model development, prediction techniques, and AI-based problem-solving. The trainer demonstrated the practical implementation of Machine Learning algorithms using real-world datasets and explained how AI solutions are developed and deployed in industry.

The resource persons encouraged active participation throughout the programme by involving students in coding exercises, practical demonstrations, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. They also shared valuable insights into industry expectations, higher education opportunities, professional certifications, and career prospects in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and related technologies.
