Field identification of plants and understanding local biodiversity

On 18th September 2025 , the Department of Botany, Sri J.C.B.M. College, Sringeri organized an Extension Program for the Botany students of Veerashaiva College, Ballari . The focus of the program was on field identification of plants and understanding local biodiversity within the college campus. As a part of their curriculum, the visiting students engaged in a practical learning session guided by our Botany faculty. They explored the rich flora of the campus, learned about diverse plant species, and studied their ecological significance. The session also highlighted the importance of biodiversity conservation and hands-on field study for better understanding of theoretical concepts. This collaborative program not only enriched the knowledge of the visiting students but also fostered academic interaction between the two institutions. Celebration of Science Day

 On the occasion of Science Day , an outreach program was organized by the Department of Botany in association with Ajasra Research & Education Centre, Sringeri, and the Science Club of Sri JCBM College on 28th February 2025. The program aimed to impart ecological techniques to BSc Botany and Zoology students of the college. The formal inauguration took place at Dr. TMA Pai Hall, where Dr. Abhijith H U, a renowned grass taxonomist and research student at IISc Bengaluru, as well as the President of Ajasra, lit the lamp to commence the event. The program was presided over by Dr. M Swamy, Principal of the college.
