“Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan”

As part of the nationwide “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan”, initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, a special youth awareness programme was held at Sri JCBM College, Sringeri, on Sunday, 2 August 2026.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports selected educational institutions across the country to participate in this important national initiative. Sri JCBM College, Sringeri, was selected as one of the participating institutions under Kuvempu University to facilitate the participation of students in the nationwide programme.

The major highlight of the programme was the live address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who addressed young people across the country. The programme focused on creating awareness about the dangers of drug and substance abuse and motivating the youth to actively contribute towards building a drug-free and healthy India.

Distinguished Participation

The programme at Sri JCBM College was graced by the presence of Shri Kota Srinivasa Poojari, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, who participated in the programme and encouraged the students to contribute towards the national mission of creating a drug-free society.

His presence added significance to the programme and served as an inspiration to the participating students. The gathering also included representatives of educational institutions, faculty members and students.

Around 300 Students Participate

Around 300 students from various educational institutions in and around Sringeri participated enthusiastically in the live programme. Students representing the following institutions took part:

  • Sri JCBM College, Sringeri
  • Government College, Menase
  • Rajiv Gandhi Sanskrit University, Sringeri
  • Government College, Koppa
  • Nursing College, Sringeri

The participation of students from different institutions reflected the collective commitment of the youth towards the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.

A Powerful Message to the Youth

The live address highlighted the serious consequences of drug and substance abuse on individuals, families and society. The programme encouraged young people to stay away from addictive substances and to become ambassadors of awareness among their friends, families and communities.

The initiative also emphasized that a healthy and responsible youth population is essential for the progress of the nation. By staying away from addiction and adopting healthy lifestyles, young people can contribute meaningfully to the vision of Viksit Bharat.

The gathering at Sri JCBM College provided students with an opportunity to become part of a nationwide youth movement against addiction, joining young people across the country in taking a collective stand for a healthier future.

A Collective Commitment for a Drug-Free India

The programme concluded with a strong message of unity and responsibility. The participating students were encouraged to spread awareness about the harmful effects of addiction and actively support the Nasha Mukt Bharat movement.

The participation of Sri JCBM College, Sringeri, as a selected institution under Kuvempu University, along with students from neighbouring institutions and the presence of Hon’ble MP Shri Kota Srinivasa Poojari, made the programme a meaningful and memorable youth-oriented national event

 On 26th September 2025, the Youth Red Cross Unit and NSS Units of Shri JCBM College, Sringeri jointly organized an insightful talk titled “ Food for Health .” The resource person, Dr. Suhas H. D. Doctor,Dhanwanthari hospital,sringeri   addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of balanced food habits and mindful consumption in maintaining good health. He emphasized how dietary choices directly influence physical well-being, immunity, and lifestyle diseases.
