The 79th Independence Day
The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor and patriotic spirit at Sri Jagadguru Chandrashekhara Bharathi Memorial College, Sringeri. The program began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag by Dr. M. Swamy, Principal of the College, who in his address highlighted the importance of freedom, national unity, and the role of youth in nation-building.
A total of 86 NCC cadets took part in the celebration, showcasing their discipline and commitment. The event was witnessed by the teaching and non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers, and Rover & Ranger students, who together created an atmosphere of respect and pride.
To mark the occasion, the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers organized a special green initiative. As a token of gratitude towards society and in alignment with environmental protection, they planted 65 tree saplings in the college parade ground. This meaningful activity was dedicated to fulfilling the dream of Sri Mahabaleshwar, an environmental enthusiast and a physically challenged person, on the occasion of his 65th birthday. His vision of creating a greener environment was honored through this noble gesture, symbolizing both compassion and commitment to sustainable development.
The program concluded with cultural activities and patriotic songs presented by the students, which added to the spirit of the day. The celebration not only strengthened the sense of patriotism among the participants but also emphasized the values of service, responsibility, and care for nature.
