National-level One-day Seminar on "Advancements in Electrical Batteries and Energy Technology"

 A national-level one-day seminar on the topic “Advancements in Electrical Batteries and Energy Technology” was successfully organized by the Departments of Physics and Chemistry of Sri JCBM College, Sringeri. Renowned experts from premier institutions shared their insights on higher education, scientific research, and technological development.

Inaugural Ceremony

The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Sharath Ananthamurthy, Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University. In his presidential address, he emphasized the importance of using regional languages in science and technology education. He expressed concern over the low representation of Kannada-speaking students in prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs, stressing the need for strong foundational education to overcome this trend. He further noted that students who acquire robust technical knowledge in their native language can better compete at the global level.

Technical Sessions

Prof. Kodandaraman Ramanujam from IIT Madras delivered two expert lectures:

  • “Basics of Electrochemistry for Batteries”

  • “High Capacity Aqueous Redox Flow Batteries”

These sessions offered students a detailed understanding of energy storage systems and explored their future scope and applications.

Prof. H.S. Nagaraj from NITK Surathkal presented a lecture on:

  • “Nanotechnology Innovations and Applications”

He discussed the evolution from Biotechnology to Nanotechnology, highlighting the emerging dominance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all sectors. He emphasized how interdisciplinary technologies are contributing significantly to societal development through innovation and research.
