Inter-Collegiate Men’s Kabaddi Tournament

The Kuvempu University Inter-Collegiate Men’s Kabaddi Tournament was successfully hosted for the first time at Sri JCBM College, Sringeri, on March 5th and 6th, 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 24 colleges across the university, showcasing intense competition and sportsmanship.

Inaugural Ceremony

The tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Manjunath Kambalagadde, a member of the College’s Board of Trustees, who graced the event as the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Dr. Ravindra Gowda, Vivek Begane (President of the Alumni Association), Professor Lakshminarayan N. H. (IQAC & NAAC Coordinator), Professor Nagabhushan (Student Welfare Officer & IQAC Coordinator), Shri A. G. Prashanth (Coordinator, Pre-University Section), and Shri Ravikiran K. S. (Physical Education Director). The event was presided over by Dr. M. Swamy, Principal of Sri JCBM College.

Tournament Highlights

The tournament witnessed thrilling matches, culminating in a highly competitive final between Gyana Sahyadri, Shankaraghatta, and Sri JCBM College, Sringeri. After a closely contested match, Gyana Sahyadri, Shankaraghatta, emerged as the champions, while Sri JCBM College secured the runner-up position. I.D.S.G College, Chikkamagaluru, finished in third place.

Individual Awards

The tournament also recognized outstanding individual performances:

  • Best Raider: Dilip (Sri JCBM College, Sringeri)
  • Best All-Rounder: Pratap (Gyana Sahyadri, Shankaraghatta)
  • Best Defender: Nishchith (I.D.S.G College, Chikkamagaluru)

Closing Ceremony & Prize Distribution

The closing ceremony was attended by Principal Dr. M. Swamy, Professor Nagabhushan, Professor Lakshminarayan N. H., Shri A. G. Prashanth, and Shri Ravikiran K. S. The prizes were distributed by Shri Tyagaraj, a member of the College’s Board of Trustees.

The event was a grand success, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork among the participants. Sri JCBM College takes pride in hosting such a prestigious event and looks forward to organizing more sporting events in the future.
