Celebration of Science Day

 On the occasion of Science Day, an outreach program was organized by the Department of Botany in association with Ajasra Research & Education Centre, Sringeri, and the Science Club of Sri JCBM College on 28th February 2025. The program aimed to impart ecological techniques to BSc Botany and Zoology students of the college.

The formal inauguration took place at Dr. TMA Pai Hall, where Dr. Abhijith H U, a renowned grass taxonomist and research student at IISc Bengaluru, as well as the President of Ajasra, lit the lamp to commence the event. The program was presided over by Dr. M Swamy, Principal of the college. Several dignitaries attended the event, including Sri Nagabhushana B R (IQAC Coordinator and Head of the Department of Physics), Sri Laxminarayana N H (NAAC Coordinator and Head of the Department of Chemistry), Sri Yogesh Kumar R G (Head of the Department of Botany), and Sri Prashanth Kumar A G (Vice-Principal of PUC), along with all faculty members from the Science department. Capt. Dr. ESK Udupa delivered the welcome address, acted as the Master of Ceremonies, and presented the vote of thanks.

In accordance with a central government order, all attendees took an oath to uphold scientific mentality, promote rational thinking, and foster inquiry in their respective fields.

Following the formal inauguration, students were taken to Ajasra Research Centre, Nemmar, Sringeri Taluk, for technical sessions and field demonstrations. During this session, students participated in hands-on activities covering various ecological techniques such as Quadrate Sampling, Transect Study, Plant Identification, Camera Trapping, GPS Mapping, and Research Article Publication.

The program concluded at 16:30 with an oral feedback session from the participants, where students expressed their appreciation for the valuable learning experience. The event successfully enhanced scientific awareness and practical knowledge among students, making it a memorable and impactful celebration of Science Day

Inter-Collegiate Men’s Kabaddi Tournament

The Kuvempu University Inter-Collegiate Men’s Kabaddi Tournament was successfully hosted for the first time at Sri JCBM College, Sringeri , on March 5th and 6th, 2025 .
